Our core expertise and IP is in continuous respiratory sensing. Spire Remote Patient Monitoring is used by pulmonologists and patients throughout the United States.
Spire Health is building the future of remote patient monitoring. We give physicians insights into their patients' health between doctor visits, helping them better manage high-risk chronic disease patients. In particular, we serve patients in the U.S. who have chronic respiratory diseases (COPD, Asthma) with a novel sensor and algorithm system that identifies changes in a patient's health. We focus our efforts on patients identified by their doctor as good candidates for our monitoring program and enroll them at little to no cost to the patient.
Summary & Scope of Position:
The Accounting Manager will be a leader on the accounting team and trusted partner for the Controller. This position is responsible for the GL and managing accounting functions. The Accounting Manager will be expected to build his/her team of AR, AP, and staff accountants and to help prepare the company for an eventual IPO.
The Accounting Manager will oversee the general ledger, the close, the creation of financial statements and external audits. This includes building/maintaining a cohesive and effective staff; day-to-day management of departmental staff; modifying and maintaining policies; continually seeking mechanisms to streamline and automate processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret and apply GAAP and other authoritative accounting standards;
- Own the month end close process, including preparing account reconciliations, overhead allocations, and journal entries while ensuring the records and financial statements are in compliance with US GAAP
- Build an accounting team and manage a growing staff.
- Maintain internal control environment to ensure compliance corporate policies and procedures for general accounting operations
- Review AR and AP ensure accurate revenue recognition and characterization of expenses
- Manage external auditors, valuation experts, and other third-party experts;
- Prepare materials for management reviews.
- Lead, participate in or perform ad hoc projects or other related duties as required
Qualifications/Requirements/Skills:
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of current and developing GAAP standards;
- A proactive attitude and a need to improve processes.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience required;
- A CPA license and/or years with an auditing firm preferred;
- ERP implementation experience
- Demonstrated capability to initiate and make improvements to processes and procedures;
- Hands-on management - desire to manage, as well as perform the detailed work personally;
- Ability to perform under tight deadlines and under the scrutiny of corporate stakeholders
- Ability to work remotely or on a hybrid basis with light travel as needed
