New ABFO open job posting - Senior Accountant, Shoreline Biosciences

 

Summary:

Shoreline Biosciences, Inc. (Shoreline), a biotechnology company developing intelligently designed allogeneic off-the-shelf, standardized and targeted cellular immunotherapies derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) for cancer and other serious diseases. Shoreline Biosciences is seeking outstanding and highly motivated candidates to join our growing team at the Accounting level. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for payroll processing, booking journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, providing SOX testing selections to the auditors, generation, and distribution of department reports, and preparing monthly internal financial statements. Additionally, they analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, ensure appropriate accounting control procedures, and periodically plan, organize, assign, review and evaluate the work of other accounting staff members as part of the overall growth and development of the department. This will be a full-time position located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA. The level of the position and compensation package will be competitive and tailored to the specific level of the candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in preparation of month-end close/management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets, and narratives.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly financial statements and “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports including in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
  • Assist in preparation of a wide variety of accounting and financial analyses as requested, including narrative support.
  • Assist with establishment, operation and updating of internal controls, including narrative standard operating procedure documentation and communication.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations.
  • Record/review semi-monthly payroll into GL
  • Handle employee correspondence and inquires.
  • Maintain purchase orders; cost control oversight including processes for ensuring best pricing is being received for procurements.
  • Manage Fixed Asset procedure (policy and process)
  • Support Controller and Finance Director, as needed
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an accountant, preferably in pharmaceutical / biotech.

  • Proficient with QuickBooks, Concur and MS Office with advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Responsive and reliable.
  • Demonstrate absolute discretion when dealing with confidential matters.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision and cooperatively as a team

Work Environment:

  • Will require working with cells and cell lines of human and/or animal origin.
  • Will require working with hazardous materials.
  • Work in and around common laboratory equipment.
  • The regular requirements of an office environment (computers, computer screens, workstations, etc.) apply when not working in or around a laboratory environment.
  • 100% on-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA.
  • Evening and weekend work, as necessary.
