POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis position is responsible for company-wide financial consolidation efforts, stewardship of the financial planning and reporting systems, and partnership with multiple departments within the organization. This critical position assists Halozyme’s growing Financial Planning and Analysis function and maintains a high level of interaction with senior and executive leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Steward total company financial consolidation efforts including:
    • Provide monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting, and annual budget and long-range planning processes
    • Develop Executive and Board reporting packages
    • Cultivate detailed knowledge of financial forecasts to provide input into the organization’s broader strategic risk-taking decisions
    • Ensure a high degree of quality, timeliness and accuracy
  • Own end-to-end administration of Financial Planning and Reporting Software (Adaptive Insights) including:
    • Ensure accuracy of data feeds from General Ledger and HRIS system to Adaptive
    • Manage budget and forecast version control
    • Maintain account, project, and organizational structure in coordination with Accounting
    • Communicate system updates and training to end users
    • Develop new system and reporting capabilities as needed
  • Lead the business partnership and financial planning, analysis, modeling, and reporting activities for assigned functions
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models for long range planning, scenario analysis and other ad-hoc needs

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Other duties, projects and process improvements as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in Finance, Accounting or related field with at least 7 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
  • Minimum three years’ FP&A experience in similar role and two years’ experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • High proficiency in Excel (including the ability to perform pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high-level functions and formulas) and PowerPoint
  • Solid proficiencies and adaptability leveraging finance system capabilities
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
  • Proven detail-oriented approach with exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Ability to partner, collaborate, and influence across a wide spectrum of functions
  • Previous Adaptive Insights experience a plus

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Equipment:  PC, scanners, facsimile machine, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained

Software Knowledge:  Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and common applications, or ability to be trained.  Adaptive Insights and Great Plains experience a plus

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Effectively partner & interface with Senior Leadership/Departmental Heads and Accounting organization

EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Physical Activities:  On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.  The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and responsibilities.

Laboratory Activities, if applicable:  Biology and chemical laboratory environments experience needed.  Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.

TRAVEL:

Travel may be required up to 5% of your time.
