Position: Senior Director/Director, Corporate Controller

Job located in San Diego

Pipeline Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of first-in-class small molecules for neuroregeneration, including synaptogenesis, remyelination and axonal repair. The company's lead clinical program, PIPE-505, is currently enrolling patients in a phase 1/2a study to treat sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) associated with speech-in-noise disability. The company has recently initiated a Phase 1 healthy volunteer study for its second clinical program, PIPE-307, targeting multiple sclerosis. Pipeline also has a portfolio of additional pre-clinical programs addressing a range of neurological disorders and conditions.

Job Summary:

The Corporate Controller will be responsible for oversight of all accounting and finance functions including financial reporting, internal controls and compliance, financial planning, tax and treasury. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer. 

Functional Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee all general accounting functions.
• Prepare and present to senior management and the Audit Committee accurate and timely prepared financial statements.
• Primary point of contact for external independent auditors.  Lead and coordinate all external financial audits.
• Lead and serve as primary contact for budgeting and forecasting process. Perform monthly budget to actuals and interact with key business partners to understand and document fluctuations.
• Manage the Company’s equity programs, capitalization table and stock options ledger.  Oversee equity accounting and third-party equity administration.
• Responsible for the Company’s federal, state and local tax compliance. Primary point of contact for outside tax advisors.
• Manage investment and banking relationships with third parties.
• Access, implement and maintain accounting systems and business tools.
• Lead policy, procedure and process development and improvements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting: CPA or equivalent required.
• 10+ years of progressive combined public and private industry accounting related experience preferably in the life science industry.
• Self-starter with the ability to show initiative to drive and make independent business decisions.
• Strong experience in management reporting, financial planning and analysis and technical accounting research.
• Experience implementing and driving business process improvements and efficiencies.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting issues, procedures and practices.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting software systems.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment, high-growth and rapidly changing environment.
