Position Summary

The Sr. Accounting Manager will be responsible for the supervision and direction of payroll, accounts payable, expense reporting, monthly accounts reconciliation and account close process, as well as the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial data and reporting.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for creating purchase orders and maintaining the corresponding accrual workbooks on a monthly basis.
  • Lead monthly meetings with department heads to review and calculate accurate expense recognition for financial close, including R&D clinical accruals.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable ensuring all transactions and cash disbursements are consistent with our accounting policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for completing various payroll functions including semi-monthly payroll processing, tracking of PTO balances, 401K contribution processing, calculating taxes on equity transactions, workers compensation audits, and working directly with the Human Resource function on termination and onboarding of new employees.
  • Responsible for maintaining monthly closing processes including entering and reviewing journal entry transactions, fixed asset purchase and disposals, purchasing accruals, payroll accruals, cash disbursements reconciliations, and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with implementation of accounting systems.
  • Other responsibilities or activities as necessary.


  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience, preferably in a life  sciences/pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment.
  • Experience with clinical accrual accounting required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient computer skills; competency with Excel, Word, Outlook and financial software package, experience with NetSuite,, and Concur preferred.
