The company is building a pipeline of additional product candidates targeting rare endocrine disorders that are targeted to enter Phase 1 development by the end of 2021.

Job Summary

The Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller is responsible for management of the overall accounting activities within the organization; develops and maintains accounting principles, practices, and procedures, and manages the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. The Accounting Manager will supervise and mentor the staff accountant; addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial statements, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage all aspects of the month-end close process including all general ledger accounting and reporting activities; review of purchasing contracts; clinical trial and R&D accruals; quarterly cut-off and all supporting activities.
• Responsible for monthly cash flow analysis including booking investment activity; maintaining adequate operating cash levels, and preparing monthly cash summary reports.
• Responsible for a wide variety of accounting, financial, benefit and operational analyses as requested, including narrative support.
• Responsible for establishment, operation and updating of internal controls, including narrative standard operating procedure documentation and communication thereof with employees.
• Prepare informal monthly budget-to-actual analysis, including monthly projections.
• Prepare quarterly financial statements, including BS, P&L, Cash Flow statements.
• Support annual insurance renewals.
• Prepare audit requests and collaborate with accounting firm.
• Process payroll via Paycor, benefits, bonus calculations
• Oversee weekly online check runs, including ACH payments and bill pays.
• Handle vendor correspondence and inquires, support interface with service providers.
• Supervise the activities of Accounts Payable.
• Support VP of Finance and senior management team on special projects as needed.
• Familiarity with SOX documentation requirements is a plus.
• Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 8 years of experience as an accountant, preferably in pharmaceutical / biotech
• Minimum 4 years of experience managing accounting staff.
