Job Summary:

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the cost accounting and fixed assets function for the organization. The position will act as the liaison between the third-party logistics company, the Manufacturing Department and the Finance Department. This position will also assist with ad hoc projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and direct all the activities of the cost accounting function.
  • Manage day to day operations of the cost accounting function from management of costs to month-end close and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain costs for each product and product candidates.
  • Develop policies and procedures for all cost accounting activities.
  • Design and maintain internal controls associated with the cost accounting process.
  • Proactive analyses of variances and communication of issues and opportunities to operations management.
  • Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers.
  • Analyze, monitor and reconcile inventory and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for inventory costs and manufacturing expenses.
  • Perform month-end close for inventory and related accounts
  • Directly interface with external auditors for review, audit and SOX control procedures.
  • Schedule and attend, if necessary, annual inventory counts.
  • Assist with internal and external financial reporting and analyses, such as proving backups for footnote disclosures included in the financial statements.
  • Assist with month-end close in other accounting areas, such as fixed assets

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Education and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant Cost Accounting experience or 8+ years of Staff Accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree required.
  • Experience with MS Dynamics GP ERP system.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must have working knowledge of Excel and computerized accounting programs.
