Summary of Role:
We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to own the close and improve accounting processes. This role will report to the Corporate Controller and have a staff of two. A successful candidate will have an enthusiastic entrepreneurial work ethic. This person will work closely with department heads, purchasing, and other members of the finance team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own the month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close process and ensure close process is performed in a timely, accurate and auditable manner
  • Perform month-end close activities including: Consolidations, Option expensing, Accruals, reconciliations, revenue recognition and tracking Equity
  • Collaborate with department heads to gain an understanding of contracts and work orders to ensure proper accounting
  • Manage Payroll and ensure employees are properly paid
  • Analyze invoice data and compare to budget, contracts, and work orders to derive needed accruals or prepaid expenses at each period end
  • Update budgets and forecasts and provide budget vs actual analysis for areas of responsibility
  • Support internal and external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibilities and prepare supporting documentation for SEC filings as needed.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of corporate accounting policies and procedures and assist in SOX implementation
  • All other duties as assigned or necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • A CPA or CMA and an ability to set and write accounting policies
  • At least 5 years of accounting/GL manager experience either at a start up or audit firm
  • A thorough understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with audits and SOX
  • The abilities to manage a full GL
  • Thrive in a fast changing, start-up company, environment
  • Excellent Communication skills with word, writing and excel skill
  • 2+ years of previous people management experience
  • Ability to proactively identify and solve problems.
  • Outstanding integrity, accuracy and organizational skills.
  • The ability to execute on your goals with little training or input.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Life Science and/or Manufacturing experience
  • Computer skills: Functional experience with an ERP, Microsoft Business central/NAV preferred
  • Experience in ERP implementations
  • Experience with FP&A, SEC reporting and/or Cost accounting
  • Experience with setting up initial accounting systems
  • Experience with consolidations
  • Accounting experience at public companies

Education Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • MBA is preferred

Travel Required:

  • Limited Travel: 0-25% may be required
  • Ability to work at home and in the office under current Covid conditions
