Ambrx is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with a mission to deliver breakthrough protein therapeutics through our proprietary technology incorporating non-natural amino acids beyond the common twenty into the protein biosynthesis, enabling site specific conjugation of payloads, pharmacokinetic extenders with proteins to create novel homogenous molecular species that is optimized for safety, efficacy and biophysical properties.

We are looking for a Financial Reporting Manager to work with our finance team to assist with month-end general ledger close as needed, and to take the lead in the preparation of the company’s SEC reporting, and assist with the implementation and management of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead in quarterly and annual external SEC reporting.
  • Perform technical accounting research. Stay technically current with GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and research accounting pronouncements. Draft accounting memos as needed.
  • Assist in implementation and management of SOX compliance regarding internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with external audit firm and SOX consultants, managing timeline, and scheduling requests and testing.
  • Contribute to month-end closings by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in development and implementation of workflow process improvements
  • Assist with special, ad-hoc projects as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • BS degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum of 3 years in SEC reporting experience and 2+ years of Accounting or Audit experience
  • Solid understanding of SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP, and SOX
  • Previous biotech experience preferred.
  • Experience with SEC reporting tools and platforms
  • Strong knowledge and experience using Great Plains
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and organization
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUP, array formulas,)
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
