Avidity Biosciences is pioneering a new class of oligonucleotide-based therapies called AOCs designed to overcome the current limitations of oligonucleotide therapies in order to treat a wide range of serious diseases. We utilize our proprietary AOC platform to design, engineer and develop therapeutics that combine the tissue selectivity of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and the precision of oligonucleotide-based therapies in order to access previously undruggable tissue and cell types and more effectively target underlying genetic drivers of diseases. Primary responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities of corporate finance and accounting.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls in accordance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial information.
  • Account and administer stock option plan in accordance with SFAS 123(R).
  • Oversee closing activities and monthly P/L statements, and budget variations. Provide financial analysis for press releases, Board meeting and investor packages.
  • Prepare and review monthly consolidated statements, present operating results and budget variations to Executive Management.
  • Manages the cash flow position of the company.
  • Required draft SEC reporting documents including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, S-1, S-3 and 8-K and insider beneficial ownership of securities Forms 3, 4 and 5.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget, long-term business plans, and on-going re-forecasts and projections.
  • Assesses the company accounting and operational systems/policies to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial information.
  • Coordinate with independent accounting and legal firms on annual financial and SOX audits, tax matters, and relevant SEC filings. Prepare forecasts and cash flow projections to assist in obtaining financing through private placements or financial institution loans.
  • Streamline finance and accounting administrative processes to allow staff to perform effectively and efficiently.
  • Tracks and analyzes new rules and regulations related to financial reporting and consolidations.
  • Manages relationships with investors and financial institutions.
  • Support VP Finance and senior management team on special projects, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Travel as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Public company/Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
