Description

We are seeking an Associate Director to lead the External Reporting & Accounting functions, including payroll. The Associate Director manages SEC reporting, SOX compliance, external audit management, month-end close, technical accounting compliance, and adoption of new accounting standards. 

The position interfaces with all levels of management including the Audit Committee, as well as representing the Company to individuals outside of the organization, primarily external auditors and legal counsel.

The Associate Director reports to the VP, Controller and supervises two staff members.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related discipline, and 10+ years related experience, including 5+ years in a public accounting firm.  CPA certification required.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and ability to quickly and correctly analyze financial transactions to determine the best course of action for the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of internal accounting and operating controls. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing accounting organization strategies 

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex or diverse information from data, polices, procedures and/or regulations, identify accounting issues and solution alternatives, and design and implement treatment, workflows and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to approach others in a tactful manner; focus on resolving issues; maintain confidentiality, effectively influence others to effect changes, and present ideas/recommendations clearly and concisely
  • Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong contributor in a team environment, with the ability to balances team and individual viewpoints and responsibilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to successfully meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt and work in a quickly changing environment, managing competing demands, and changing approaches or method to best fit the situation.
