POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting will be responsible for managing the preparation of US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, oversight of the design and execution of controls within the internal control framework, the accounting for debt instruments and related debt covenant review requirements, review of the transfer pricing and tax provisions and interfacing with the external auditors for completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare the SEC 10- Q, 10-K and 8-k filings and earnings releases
  • Maintain the SEC and close calendar for communication of deadlines to the stakeholders
  • Coordinate the review of the SEC documents with internal and external resources
  • Compile and quality review of support binders for the related filings
  • Lead the internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance design
  • Manage and execute controls within the internal control framework
  • Review and update process narratives and control matrices for SOX compliance
  • Lead the SOX coordination of testing and documentation of the control environment by internal and external resources
  • Prepare monthly accounting entries for various debt instruments
  • Coordinate and compile the completion of quarterly debt covenant reviews and related compliance certificates
  • Assist the Tax Director with the preparation of documents needed for the Company’s income tax provision
  • Perform the review of the transfer pricing and tax provision prepared by the tax resources

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft technical memorandums/white papers documenting accounting positions taken by the Company
  • Assess opportunities for efficiency within the financial statement close process
  • Support of forecasting and projecting processes requested by business partners
  • Special projects as required

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 7+ years of experience, CPA licensure with at least 4 years of experience in public accounting (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC financial reporting regulations and requirements, strong technical accounting background is a plus
  • Prior exposure to SEC rules and regulations
  • Solid understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, Internal Controls over Financial Reporting and COSO standards
  • Keen interest and experience in understanding processes and proposing continuous improvement solutions
  • Proven experience and interest in understanding complex systems and their capabilities to provide efficient and effect operations and controls
  • Demonstrated desire to learn and constantly improve. Take responsibility for own development and the development of others and demonstrate the ability to work independently while able to identify the appropriate times to involve their supervisors
  • Working knowledge of Workiva and XBRL is a plus
  • Previous experience working in the life science industry is a plus

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Equipment:   PC, scanners, facsimile machine, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained.  Knowledge of other equipment required: N/A

Software Knowledge:  Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Knowledge of other software required: Workiva and XBRL is a plus

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Routinely interact with cross functional teams and outside parties including Financial Planning and Analysis, Legal, Investor Relations, Internal Auditors and External Auditors.

EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Physical Activities:  On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. TRAVEL:
