POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general guidance by the CFO, the Staff Accountant will perform general bookkeeping functions to support the accounting department. Includes preparation of financial statements and journal entries as well as accounting review and analytics. This position is responsible for credit card reconciliations, employee expense reports, vendor invoices and payment processing. It will also conduct research and reconcile multiple vendor accounts, match invoices with payments, and support the preparation of quarter‐end close.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by analyzing information from the general ledger system and department heads
  • Prepare general ledger entries
  • Request disbursements and reconcile accounts
  • Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset ledger
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Scan incoming vendor invoices, contracts and W‐9s, save them on accounting drive.
  • Process vendor invoices, employee expense reports and credit card transactions into the accounting system on a timely manner.
  • Assist with financial audits.
  • Update monthly expense accrual schedule and book month‐end journal entry.
  • Maintain company credit card transaction records, perform monthly reconciliations.
  • Conduct payroll administration in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • No supervisory responsibility

NON‐ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May assist with some office administrative tasks.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • College degree in accounting preferred.
  • Four plus (4+) years’ experience in Accounting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and time‐management skills
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize workload
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well within a group and with other teams

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Equipment: PC, scanners, voice mail and e‐mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained. Knowledge of other equipment required: N/A.

Software Knowledge: QuickBooks Online or Quickbooks preferred; other similar accounting software. Intermediate in Excel, MS Office (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint). Knowledge of other software required: Paychex.
