Accounting Manager

Respivant Sciences, Inc., a San Diego-based subsidiary of Roivant Sciences, is a global, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing new therapeutics that significantly improve the lives of patients suffering from chronic inflammation and fibrosis. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a newly-formed entity with a proven leadership team.

We are looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager to support the Chief Financial Officer.  The Accounting Manager will be responsible for all general ledger activities, month-end close, consolidation of foreign subsidiaries / affiliates, and preparation of financial statements.  The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for maintaining payroll, bank reconciliations, and processing accounts payable.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Oversee accounting operations ensuring data integrity, completeness and accuracy
  • Perform month end close: prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including, but not limited to, cash, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll, accruals, and stock-based accounts, in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist in the tracking and reconciliation of clinical study activities, including payment processing
  • Review intercompany transactions and intercompany account reconciliations
  • Ensure completeness and proper accounting of material contracts (with customers and vendors), expenses, reimbursements and overall activities related to clinical trials,  and other research and development related activities
  • Process accounts payable in accordance with above listed requirements
  • Responsible for consolidation of global subsidiary / affiliate activities
  • Develop, implement and ensure adherence to operational procedures
  • Assist with management of equity plan and capitalization tables of subsidiary entities
  • Manage audit and tax reporting requirements (domestic and international)
  • Tax compliance: payroll employer tax, sales and use tax, property tax, VAT for foreign subsidiaries, and statutory foreign tax filing requirements
  • Review payroll processing (semi-monthly) and address any payroll notices received in a timely manner
  • Responsible for review of W-2 and 1099 annual reporting requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA desired, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive work experience, including experience in public accounting and private sector, including a minimum of 3 years in a drug discovery and development pharmaceutical company is required
  • Pharmaceutical company experience includes clinical trial activities and various stages of research and development activities
  • Experience with the use of ERP systems and their implementation, and QuickBooks
  • Solid computer skills including all desktop applications; strong Excel skills
  • Experience with managing multiple entities, collaboration arrangements, shared services agreements, or consolidations highly preferred
  • Payroll processing/oversight a plus
