Position: Accounting Manager


This role will build and execute financial reporting and transactional activities.  The successful candidate will have experience building strong foundations within rapidly growing organization.  Must be strong in accounting while also being able to think about the big picture (i.e. reengineering processes and implementing efficient procedures, etc.) and roll up your sleeves as part of a small team. This position has significant growth potential with increased responsibilities.  This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Finance & Accounting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day accounting operations and supervision of accounting staff, including functional responsibility over accounts payable, payroll, stock administration, clinical accruals and necessary business and tax filings
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate all audit activity, including audit request schedules
  • Prepare internal/external monthly financial statements and actual vs budget variance reports
  • Maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure, in accordance with SOX requirements
  • Develop and maintain relevant processes and procedures to promote departmental efficiencies
  • Process all aspects of semi-monthly payroll, including but not limited to maintaining employee master files and coordinating communication to employees regarding payroll policies and regulations
  • Mentor, coach and develop accounting staff
  • Lead accounting projects, including the design and implementation of key finance systems, internal controls, monthly close efficiency, audit readiness, and management reporting
  • Assist with SEC reporting (10Q/10K) and XBRL compliance.

Qualifications Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with at least 7 years of progressive accounting experience; minimum 2 years in supervisory role
  • CPA preferred
  • Excellent communications and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of accounting (ERP) systems
  • Detail oriented, efficient, strong system and data flow knowledge, self-starter with excellent people skills who thrives in a fast paced environment
  • Well organized and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • MS Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
