Summary of Primary Responsibilities:
The Accounting Manager (AM) is a key position within the Accounting and Finance department reporting directly to the VP of Finance and Corporate Controller. The AM is a hands-on manager and leader in the day-to-day activities of the accounting department, including managing the month-end close process, review of journal entries, adherence to internal controls, review of payroll and accounts payable, and involvement in special projects when appropriate. Candidate must have strong attention to detail, knowledge of GAAP, and ability to multi-task to prioritize deliverables. The salary range for this position is $140K - $180K.
Position Description and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect supervisory and leadership oversight of department staff
- Manage the month-end close process in accordance with close calendars
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations.
- Prepare and/or review complex month end accruals, inventory
- Streamline and manage month-end financial statement close process, including review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support year-end audit and act as point person with external auditing firms
- Oversee tax work; act as point person with external tax professionals
- Develop, expand and refine existing internal controls processes.
- Provide general oversight for bi-weekly ADP payroll processing and compliance.
- Technical accounting research skills a plus
- Participate or lead special projects and support various accounting related duties as needed.
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Experience and Requirements:
- CPA/MBA or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP and of recent accounting trends
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- QAD ERP experience a plus
- Acute attention to detail and accuracy of work performed.
- Communicates well and has interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or business administration
Minimum Experience:
- 6-8 years of finance and general accounting experience (public accounting experience a plus) with at least 1-2 years of supervisory experience
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device industries a plus
