Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to Director, FP&A,the Sr. Financial Analyst will facilitate the financial modeling, forecasting, and tracking activities of the FP&A department.
In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the internal, CRO, co-development partners to ensure the highest level of financial management;
  • Complying with applicable national and international laws, regulations, including, but not limited to applicable Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs);
  • Complying with SFJ policies, standard operating procedures, operating guidelines, and other written instructions;
  • Demonstrating effective leadership and working skill in teamwork, delegation, organization and coordination;
  • Demonstrating a high level of professionalism and personal integrity when representing the Company;
  • Serving as the primary finance business partner to the program region managers, EVP, Chief Compliance Officer, and SVP, Chief Regulatory Officer.
  • Collaborating with the SFJ cross-functional teams (Asset Lead, Region Managers, Medical/Safety, QA/Compliance, etc.) to forecast project vendor costs that are utilized in the development and monthly update of the project financial dashboards;
  • Collaborating with Vendor Managers / Asset Leads and function leaders in the review and negotiation of vendor contracts, and routing for program governance / SFJ CAF approvals, identifying future out-of-scope (OOS) tasks / costs and socializing them proactively to mitigate program funding risks;
  • Executing the vendor expense accrual process to ensure project financials are complete and accurate;
  • Facilitating the vendor invoice review and approval processes to ensure charges are valid, aligned with contracted terms, and advanced to accounting in a timely manner to ensure payment according to the vendor terms;
  • Facilitating the monthly program financial results review with the Asset Lead and Region Managers to ensure awareness or each program’s financial and study milestone performance, identification of OOS risk and opportunities, and alignment on ownership of actions to address risks and opportunities;
  • Executing the SFJ internal resource time reporting processes and analyzing data to ensure completeness and accuracy;
  • Supporting the Director, FP&A in the review and management of clinical trial agreements;
  • Supporting requests for ad-hoc analysis / reports to CFO, Asset Leads, executive management, the accounting team, and other key stakeholders;
  • Collaborating with the Director, FP&A to develop and maintain the program cost forecast model for existing assets and new business opportunities.

Qualifications / Experience

  • B.S. in Finance, Accounting, or Economics required
  • 3+ years of experience as a Sr. Financial Analyst
  • Experience in a clinical research organization, in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry, or private equity is preferred
  • Advanced MS Office experience required.  Sage and Excel/VBA super-user skills are preferred.
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
  • Shows judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex ideas and relationships while exercising discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and prioritize
  • Demonstrated ability to work with team members in a hands-on capacity
