What You Will Contribute To Altos

As a member of the Finance Team, the Senior Manager, Payroll, will have a critical role in leading the global payroll function at Altos. This a hands on role and will be responsible for all aspects of the payroll function for US, including preparation, distribution, processing and the reporting of payroll to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations as well as oversee UK payroll processed by a third party. The successful candidate will bring leadership and payroll expertise to support the rapid growth and success of Altos Labs.

  • Own and manage the payroll operations related to employee compensation and benefits, including payroll processing and review of leave of absence payments, retroactive payments, bonuses, new hires, and related federal and state tax compliance.
  • Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Prepares and records payroll related journal entries and performs related account reconciliations.
  • Performs off cycle payroll relating to option exercises, employee terminations, etc.
  • Partners with People team to understand and implement payroll status changes.
  • Respond to employee inquiries concerning payroll, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Processes accurate and timely year-end reporting (inc. W-2s and 1095-Cs).
  • Performs 401k tracking and related entries and reconciliations.
  • Manages annual audit and reporting for 401k plan, workers’ compensation audit, etc.
  • Develops ad hoc financial and operational reporting, as needed.
  • Maintains payroll documentation for internal compliance
  • Performs other related duties related to the payroll, as needed.
Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in private or public company payroll.
  • Experience working with Paylocity and Bamboo HRIS is a plus.
  • Experience in payroll systems implementation a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage effectively numerous concurrent projects and tasks in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment
  • Must be customer-service oriented, have solid customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications, including education and change management
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver complete and accurate results.
  • Ability to identify, document and implement process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Paylocity, ADP, Workday, Netsuite, Quickbooks, etc.
  • Experience working in the biotech, pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
  • Experience in payroll systems implementation
