What You Will Contribute To Altos

As a member of the Finance Team, the Director, Accounting Operations, will have a critical role in leading the accounting operations as we build and scale the accounting function at Altos. This individual will frequently interact with accounting staff, Procurement, Legal, People and other stakeholders across the organization as well as external consultants and auditors. This role requires critical thinking skills, effective organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong ability to build effective relationships across the Company.

  • Oversee certain aspects of monthly/quarterly general ledger close process including accounting for leases, stock-based compensation, etc.
  • Oversee the management of the payroll function.
  • Oversee Concur Time & Expense activities and corporate credit card administration activities
  • Oversees the accounting of our international subsidiary in UK, inter Company and transfer pricing analysis
  • Leads the overall financial reporting process and ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Supports the requirements for external audit, tax returns, etc.
  • Provides support in ERP implementation
  • Provides support in establishment and monitoring of Company’s Corporate policies and internal controls
  • Ensure efficient day-to-day operations across the finance organization through the management and execution of best practices in all internal processes and systems
  • Provides support to all other teams across the company as needs arise, including special projects, system improvements or ad-hoc financial analyses as assigned
Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in scaling and managing accounting operations; Big 4 background preferred, CPA required
  • Experience in building and scaling accounting operations, systems implementations, etc.
  • Well-developed problem solving skills combined with experience working with outside consultants in a positive and collaborative fashion.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to the team
  • Possesses a sense of urgency; identifies challenges and problems and takes the initiative to identify solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize/balance multiple tasks to meet team goals and deadlines
  • Attentive to accuracy and detail, strong belief in personal responsibility and accountability, ability to problem solve and find solutions
  • Willingness to contribute beyond the defined role to meet team needs as circumstance requires
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Bill.com, Point Purchasing, etc.
  • Experience working in the biotech, pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
