SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Associate Director of Accounting will be an integral member of the finance team contributing to the overall accounting and financial reporting requirements for all SFJ entities. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound technical accounting experience, while simultaneously assisting with operational and analytical responsibilities. In addition to ensuring that the work performed is consistently aligned with the goals and expectations of SFJ, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure compliance with policies, standard operating procedures, operating guidelines, and other written instructions. Ability to contribute to continued process efficiencies.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and personal integrity.
  • Successfully execute the basic responsibilities of the accounting function, including but not limited to,
    • review accounting entries, vendor payments, bank reconciliation, expense report management, payroll, develop excellent internal and external client working relationships and ensure proper documentation for all work being performed
    • backup to Accounting Manager in preparing accounting entries and reconciliations, as needed
  • Assist in clinical trial accounting, consolidations and financial reporting, inventory management/cost accounting, technical accounting, revenue recognition, impairment assessments, reconcile gross to net (GTN) etc.
  • Administer and execute on the accounting monthly close process. Collaborate with cross functional teams to further reduce the close time while adhering to internal controls.
  • Identify areas in need of process change or efficiencies, suggest solutions for successful change and executed on approved changes.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statements, in accordance with GAAP and/or IFRS and timely management reporting.
  • Assist with research, evaluation and manage the implementation of new accounting standards as required.
  • Administer and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure monthly inter-company elimination entries, group consolidations and foreign currency translations are accurately performed.
  • Assist in the timely review and management of the accounting operations of foreign subsidiaries in Singapore and the Cayman Islands.
  • Assist in the successful preparation and execution of SFJ’s annual audits.
  • Prepare tax schedules for SFJ’s ongoing tax reporting requirements for multiple entities.
  • Other general and administrative tasks to support the growth in the Company.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent management and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with corporate and partnership tax return review preferred
  • Demonstrated history of resourcefulness and problem solving, and the ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Experience with ERPs: Sage 100 preferred
  • Good understanding and application of key US GAAP accounting standards
  • Experience implementing new accounting processes
  • Able to point to past successful significant process improvement projects
  • Participate in ad hoc assignments as required
  • Proficient with MS Office software applications
  • Contributes to a respectful work environment and maintains composure

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Accounting Manager/Associate Director of Accounting role
  • BS degree or equivalent in Accounting or related field required
  • CPA/MBA designation a plus
  • Prior work experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry preferred
