The Opportunity

Reporting to the Controller / VP, Finance we are seeking a highly motivated, versatile and strategic Director of Accounting to join our growing Finance Team.  In this role, you will be overseeing all operational accounting functions, including and not limited to general ledger transactions, managing accounts payable, managing procurement and supply chain, managing payroll, financial statement preparation, audit preparation and leading future enhancements of Oracle Cloud ERP and other financial systems. The successful candidate will partner with Laboratory Operations, People, Facilities, IT and Legal and will work cross-functionally with our scientists, engineers, and operational colleagues to support our rapid company growth.      

 Key responsibilities:

- Preparation of GAAP financial statements, including managing the master data related to reports (i.e. Chart of Accounts and Cost Centers)
- Management and oversight of month-end close activities, including timely review of journal entries, account reconciliations and managing the close calendar
-Manage and provide additional support for preliminary month-end financial review, flux explanations and close deck 
- Manage the procurement function - purchasing and sourcing, laboratory fixed physical tracking, procurement forecast planning, communicating and developing procurement strategy, analytics and KPI’s
- Manage supply chain function and inventory management, including Oracle Cloud SCM modules for supply chain execution (cycle counting/min-max maintenance) and receiving as it relates to PO match/invoicing 
- Manage accounts payable process to ensure proper review of invoice coding and approval of invoices in compliance with our purchase authorization matrix and resolve escalated issues and inquiries 
- Support internal and external inquiry on accounts payable and/or purchase order details, in accordance with contract terms 
- Manage payroll to review bi-monhtly payroll processing reporting, bonus accruals, all payroll related  journal entries, reconciliations and compliance issues
- Lead Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain system implementations and Oracle ERP enhancements
- Partner with Sr. Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting on implementing and monitoring accounting policies, procedures and internal control compliance
- Manage and review tax filings to ensure compliance with all IRS regulations (i.e. 1099, use tax, property tax, W-2, etc.)
- Support the external audits and ensure all requests are completed in a timely manner
- Support budget and forecasting planning as needed
- Lead the development of desktop procedures and operational processes to enable better training within the organization
- Support SOX documentation and testing as applicable
- Be a mentor and leader to staff by providing guidance, support and training 
- Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned

About You

- Bachelor degree in Business, Finance or Accounting discipline
- 10+ years of relevant work experience strongly preferred in public biotech or life sciences
- CPA certification with a minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience preferred 
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and experience with SEC regulations
- Experience using UKG or similar payroll system
- Experience in leading and participating in Finance system implementations  (i.e. ERP, Payroll, Equity, FP&A, etc.) 
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to work in G-Suite
- Organized and strong attention to detail with an ability to simultaneously research discrepancies and solve problems
- Effective communicator with good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional leaders and others in the company
- Ability to work independently with general direction and guidance
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in an ever changing environment
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
