The Sr. Accountant will report to the Sr. Director, Assistant Controller and play an active role in supporting the financial close process, clinical trial accounting and internal & external audit requests.  This is a highly visible role that works directly with employees at all levels of the Company as well as external consultants and auditors and will be a key contributor to the accounting department’s success.


  • Actively participate in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical & CMC Departments and other cross functional departments to ensure accuracy and completeness of clinical accrual. Including, reviewing and analyze clinical/CMC contracts and change orders, vendor financial reports and invoices, compare and reconcile data to purchase orders, budgets, work orders, to prepare the clinical/CMC accrual journal entries.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, roll forward schedules, flux analysis and other ad hoc schedules for other assigned accounts.
  • Participate and assist in our ongoing SOX compliance and internal control requirements.
  • Assist with audit requests including supporting the PBC schedules for the quarterly reviews and year-end audit.
  • Responsible for various federal and state tax filings including Delaware franchise tax, California sales and use tax and property tax filings.
  • Assist with special ad-hoc projects, research, and supplemental reporting as needed.
  • Assist with systems and process enhancements including optimizing the capabilities of various financial systems.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive general accounting experience in a public company or in a large auditing firm.
  • Experience working in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry a plus.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP.
  • Proven ability to work with and communicate effectively across all levels across the organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all departments, management levels within the company and external stakeholders.
  • Must be capable of operating in a fast-paced environment, able to handle pressure well, be self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent Excel spreadsheet skills and proficiency with Word and PowerPoint required and NetSuite accounting software experience a plus.
  • Ability to proactively identify and solve problems
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills
  • Attention to detail and highly organized
