Instil Bio Inc, is a cell therapy company focused on both unmodified and engineered autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) cell therapy for the personalized treatment of solid tumors. The approach enables a patient’s own immune system to fight their cancer. The world-renowned team and its scientific advisors/investors have tremendous experience in developing, manufacturing, and gaining regulatory approval for cell therapies.

Reporting to Senior Director Reporting & Technical Accounting

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• Lead compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
• Assess effectiveness of controls, including testing results and mitigating controls with the priority to obtain passing results
• Continue the development of existing and in-progress internal control matrices and narratives to address related audit and operational risks
• Collaborate with process owners across multiple functions and departments, including providing education around SOX principles and requirements
• Monitor, track, report, and communicate the status of documentation updates, testing, and potential issues
• Identify and implement areas for efficiency and improvement
• Assist in managing existing external consultants
• Manage entity level controls
• Assist and direct IT in managing ITGC’s and application controls
• Assist with segregation of duties conflicts within accounting systems
• A key responsibility is providing remediation support and control design enhancement guidance.

• Coordinate closely and act as key liaison with external auditors to reduce surprises
• Streamline the overall SOX compliance processes
• Assist in developing an accounting policy manual

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
• Big Four public accounting experience, ideally having reached manager level or higher
• Experience in Internal Audit or Public Accounting with preference for Big 4 firms, ideally having reached manager level or higher
• Professional certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
• In-depth knowledge of SOX 404 internal controls, disclosure controls and reporting requirements
• Project management skills around SOX and/or audit compliance
• Significant finance and accounting experience in publicly traded companies
