New ABFO Member Company Open Job Posting - Senior Accounting Manager, RAPT Therapeutics



RAPT Therapeutics, Inc. is looking for an energetic and talented individual to join our team. This person will be overseeing operational accounting, including responsibilities over payroll, tax and the monthly closing of accounts through participation in accrual activities, account reconciliations and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements and audits. This person will also manage the accounts payable function.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, a solid operational accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.


  • Manage of aspects of payroll including review of payroll processing by the Company's third party payroll provider, Netsuite.
  • Manage accounts payable including review of invoice and expense report processing, as well as driving improvements to the accounts payable function.
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries and reconciliations in assigned areas, including cash & investments, payroll-related accounts, and various accrued liabilities.
  • Review of general ledger for quarter end close to ensure transactions are properly recorded for financial statement preparation, including asset, liability, and expense accounts.
  • Prepare various tax filings and assist with compilation of information for preparation of state and federal tax returns.
  • Manage an accounting team made up of 2 professionals
  • Assist with the preparation of external financial statements, earnings releases, SEC filings and audit schedules.
  • Participate in the analysis of financial information, including account and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with company-wide procedures, policies, internal controls and documentation of controls.
  • Assist in the management of equity compensation plans and stock option administration.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Payroll processing/review experience in a multi-state environment.
  • Background in AP and General Ledger, with increasing ownership of these processes.
  • Track record of successful accounting experience with 2+ years supervisory experience and 5+ years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and solid accounting, finance and analytical skills.
  • Systems and operational skills, including strong Microsoft Excel skills. (NetSuite,  NetSuite Payroll (Ceridian), and Certent a plus).
  • Detail-oriented with high-level of accuracy, organized, with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to have a hands-on role in day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deliverables with limited supervision.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • General understanding of SOX environment and compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Public company experience preferred.
  • Life Science company experience is a plus.
