We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Associate Director, Accounting who will be part of a dynamic finance team to guide the growth of the company. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this is a unique opportunity to join a private stage, high profile company in a growth phase. In this role, you will be overseeing all operational accounting, including and not limited to, owning the general ledger transactions and financial statements, managing accounts payable, preparing payroll, stock administration and audit preparation.  You will also have the opportunity to implement best-in-class accounting processes, policies and tools to streamline and support our company’s growth.   

Your Role in Navigating the Maze:

1. Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures, including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations
2. Manage Accounts Payable, including managing our Accounts Payable associate
3. Collaborate with FP&A to ensure that purchase orders and invoices are assigned to the appropriate departments and projects.
4. Responsible for payroll processing, reporting and compliance
5. Responsible for stock administration – ensure accuracy and timeliness of recording and reporting all equity award activities
6. Partner with Corporate Controller on implementing accounting systems and tools
7. Partner with Corporate Controller on implementing and monitoring accounting policies and procedures
8. Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned

Your Navigation Tools:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. 
2. 8+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in biotech
3. CPA certification with 3+ years of public accounting experience
4. Strong understanding of US GAAP and experience with SEC regulations
5. Accounting ERP system experience, preferably NetSuite
6. Experience using ADP or similar payroll system and Carta or similar equity administration system
7. Advanced Excel skills
8. Organized and strong attention to detail with an ability to simultaneously research discrepancies and solve problems
9. Effective communicator with good verbal and written communication skills
10. Excellent project management skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional leaders and others in the company
11. Ability to work independently with general direction and guidance
12. Ability to prioritize and multitask in an ever-changing environment
