The Vice President of Investor Relations & Corporate Communications is responsible for leading all aspects of investor relations, media relations, internal and external communications, both strategic and operational. The ideal candidate will have worked in pre-Commercial and/or Commercial biotech/pharmaceutical organizations and have significant expertise and experience in external communications needed to support positioning of multiple commercial product launches and late stage clinical programs. This includes producing high-quality communication engagement and materials, making presentations to the financial community, and managing, developing and implementing strategies and tactics to keep various external audiences current on company strategy, performance and industry trends.

Coherus’ strategy is to invest cash flows from its commercial biosimilars business to build a leading immuno-oncology franchise in the United States. The Company recently in-licensed toripalimab, an anti-PD-1 antibody being evaluated in 15 ongoing registrational clinical trials. Clinical data from these studies will become available over the next several years. The first toripalimab biologics license application is expected to be filed in 2021.

Coherus commercializes UDENYCA, a biosimilar pegfilgrastim, and in the coming two years expects as many as four additional products could be approved by the United States Food & Drug Administration, including toripalimab as well as three biosimilar product candidates.

The VP of Investor Relations and Communications will lead the Company’s efforts to communicate the Company’s progress in clinical development, registration, and commercialization of the product portfolio. Successful candidates will be self-directed, organized, comfortable in fast-paced cultures, and passionate about the business of science and medicine. Strong communications and writing skills required.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Corporate Communications

  • Develop an excellent understanding of Coherus’ business, strategy, biosimilar and immuno-oncology science and medicine, pipeline and financials
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive, strategic corporate communications program
  • Create compelling and consistent communications content including press releases, social media postings and website updates
  • Work with HR to develop an internal communications framework to align company strategy, engage all employees, and communicate progress against key milestones and metrics
  • Proactively counsel and collaborate with internal stakeholders on all major company initiatives, events, announcements and messages; Manage internal review processes with subject matter experts
  • Manage the current company website; Lead internal working team/external agency to develop a new website to reflect new company positioning beyond biosimilars
  • Manage external communication agency relationships
  • Collaborate with external agency to develop, build and own reporter relationships

Investor Relations

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive, strategic investor relations program
  • Act as a primary contact for the investment community; develop relationships and communicate with investors on a regular basis; respond to investor and research analyst inquiries
  • Plan, manage and execute investor events to include: banking conferences, 1x1 meetings, roadshows, conference calls, KOL events at medical/scientific meetings; schedule management’s attendance at all investor-related meetings
  • Create materials including investor presentations, messaging/Q&A and conference call scripts
  • Maintain corporate calendar including investor events and other marketing activities
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual business section disclosures in SEC filings
  • Develop a variety of targeting initiatives with an optimal mix and type of stockholders
  • Follow the markets; analyze and report to executive team on external assumptions, perceptions and surveys from analysts and investors to provide aggregated view of expectations for the company
  • Assess/benchmark company, peer group, and industry factors to determine best practices around quarterly reporting and other corporate announcements
  • Monitor news sources for competitive information and investment personal changes and identify key IR opportunities
  • Manage all aspects of annual shareholder meeting process working alongside Finance and Legal teams for 10-K wrap/annual report, proxy and CEO letter
  • Develop IR/CC updates for Board meetings as needed

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BA/BS in finance, business or communications; MBA desired
  • 7+ years of progressive investor relations experience in a publicly traded biotech/pharmaceutical company and/or experience working at an investor relations firm supporting biotech/pharmaceutical clients
  • Strategic thinker with ability to adapt quickly to a high-growth, fast paced environment
  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves and be hands-on
  • Ability to lead multi-functional teams
  • Ability to interact with senior management team to gather critical messages
  • Outstanding presentation skills and strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of financial statements and valuation models
  • Understanding of SEC and FDA regulations impacting communications
  • Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills are required
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with developing PowerPoint presentations
  • Direct work experience in the investment community on the buy- or sell-side a plus
