Mirum focuses on finding and developing drugs for difficult to treat liver diseases. Our programs are focused on cholestatic liver diseases in children and adults. Our drug candidates, maralixibat and volixibat, target the bile acid accumulation from cholestasis, and we believe our approach can address the underlying cause of symptoms, liver damage, and clinical outcomes. POSTION SUMMARY

Seeking Sr. Director / Exec. Director of FP&A who will play a key role in the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. Heading up FP&A the Senior Director / Executive Director will have ownership of financial planning and analysis and be responsible for the creation and maintenance of financial models, forecasts, reports and Key Performance Indicators. Working directly with the senior team, this position will play a lead role in strategic planning, assessing operational and investment decisions, and developing success criteria.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ownership of the FP&A function
  • Primary FP&A responsibilities in support of the Commercial organization and leadership, including financial planning and tracking of operating expenses, headcount reporting, monthly close support, quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting and variance analyses.
  • Provide guidance on month-end close process to record proper accounting adjustments on revenue, gross-to-net (rebates/discount), and operating expenses
  • Understand commercial strategy and associated metrics to act as liaison between Corporate Finance and Commercialization; ensure financial data are properly recorded, analyzed and interpreted
  • Collaboratively identify risks and opportunities that drive financial results; Manage these ‘risks and opportunities’ together with Finance and the Commercial team to align the overall organization.
  • Support Launch Teams and the Commercial Leadership Team during the annual Long Range Planning process.
  • Provide direction to clients on key corporate financial policies, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and departmental policies to ensure proper GAAP treatment of expenses.
  • Secondary responsibilities include support of R&D expense accruals, including clinical studies.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. CRO finance partners) and help troubleshoot finance-related issues.
  • Oversee preparation of finance materials for Board and internal executive staff meetings.
  • Identify, facilitate, and drive continuous improvement processes as we scale for growth.  (Examples include modeling best practices, automated dashboards, customized internal reporting packages, refined data systems and analytical tools to support scenario planning)
  • Provide strong managerial leadership and guidance to direct report(s).
  • Support R&D Program Teams during budgeting process.
  • On an as needed basis, participate on high-priority valuation or corporate development projects, including analyses supporting clinical program investment decisions. Projects may also include analyses for M&A and licensing decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting or Finance. MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of finance-related experience, with at least 5 years in FP&A; Life science/biotech experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in working with biopharma revenue product forecasts including clear understanding of drivers of change, gross to net deductions, including government, distribution, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding the treatments of commercially related expenses including grants / contributions, patient assistance programs, co-pay support
  • Prior experience with ERP systems, Financial Planning tools and other financial systems implementations preferred.
