Reports to: Associate Director of Accounting and Reporting
Location: Brisbane, CA


The Senior Manager, Accounting will be responsible for the monthly close process, all aspects of accounting operations, setting internal accounting policies, and driving process and system changes to help scale for future growth. Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of global accounting operations, including general ledger, cash, prepayments, fixed assets and accounts payables
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations for all responsible areas prepared by other team members ensuring accounting and coding are in accordance with accounting standards
  • For more judgmental and complex areas, book journal entries and perform account
  • Establish relationships with and work closely with business owners to identify financial drivers, monthly accruals and other transactions impacting accounting or financial
  • Perform variance analysis on financial statements to identify adjustments and issues
  • Prepare audit requests and assist in the research and analysis of audit inquiries
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) documentation and requirements
  • Manage cash balances to ensure appropriate funding levels for operating needs
  • Manage accounts payables, including review of invoices and coding, ensuring timely payments, vendor management, and review of subsequent disbursements
  • Proper accounting for Concur (travel and expense reporting) and corporate credit card
  • Manage a team of 2-3 individuals by leading the team to meet deadlines, follow established processes and pro-actively address issues in a dynamic and constantly changing environment
  • Through constant evaluation, ensure the training, growth and development of team members
  • Working knowledge of GAAP with desire to learn IFRS
  • Develop efficient processes and implement systems scalable for rapid growth
  • Special projects and other tasks as assigned

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • 7-10+ years of accounting, finance, and operations experience with at least 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Desire to learn IFRS
  • Ability to successfully manage a team along with multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail, decision-making, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
  • Pro-active, self-starter with ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Life science / biotech experience a plus
  • Systems-savvy
  • Experience implementing ERP and other financial systems
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion
  • Ability to manage, understand and provide analysis on high volumes of data
  • Team player
