About the role 

You'll help lead a growing group of highly motivated “A Players” focused on solving hard problems and getting things done in a tight window.  You’ll be responsible for things like rev rec, order to cash automation, data & financial analysis, and month end close while thinking strategically about how we can best tackle complex problems as a team. You’ll work closely with the Controller, FP&A, sales, and operations as well as help grow and lead the accounting group itself. This role will evaluate where the company spends time and ensure appropriate costs are recognized in the period revenue is incurred. Accurate and timely revenue recognition is important to help Syapse grow the business. 

Things you’ll accomplish in the first year: 

You’ll be tasked with quickly taking ownership of your areas of expertise and you’ll be successful if you thrive in roles with high degrees of autonomy. Syapse is undertaking the audacious challenge of moving our accounting function from outsourced to in-house public company ready in a small window of time. This is a huge challenge. If that sounds like exciting to you, here are just a few of the things you could accomplish in your first months:  

  • Find and execute on multiple opportunities to drive automation and efficiency with a focusing on decreasing time to complete month end close.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted expert in several fields of accounting and drive complex projects autonomously. 
  • Complete a review and provide recommendations for our Revenue Recognition Process and Monthly reporting to management
  • Increase our ability to hit company revenue targets through increased awareness and analysis of our current financial picture. 

What you bring to the table:

  • Big 4 Public accounting experience
  • Active CPA
  • Strong technical accounting skills including: understanding of ASC 606, cost GAAP: ASC 340, ASC 350, SOX 404 / Internal Control Processes
  • Ability to present financial reporting to multiple disparate stakeholders including internal employees, investors and lenders
  • Senior skills in financial reporting, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliation and journal entry preparation
