The Opportunity

At insitro, we are combining human biology and machine learning to discover and develop new therapeutics. The heart of our strategy is to produce large data sets that will drive machine learning and yield key biological insights. This strategy requires a seamless, robust, and effective operation that simultaneously spans multiple projects, some partnered and some in-house. 

We are seeking an Accountant to join our growing Accounting Team.  In this role, you will be performing full-cycle accounts payable and assisting with the month-end close process in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.  You will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally and support our scientists, engineers, and operational colleagues.  Further, you will assist with implementing systems and tools to streamline and scale our rapid company growth.  

Your primary duties will be:

  • Process, code and ensure vendor invoices are in compliance with our purchase authorization matrix
  • Monitor the Accounting inbox to ensure that all invoices and other vendor communications are properly and timely addressed
  • Prepare and perform weekly and adhoc vendor payments
  • Ensure W-9s are obtained and assist with 1099 filings
  • Accrue use tax and ensure compliance with all IRS regulations
  • Assist with month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations (i.e. bank reconciliation, prepaids, accruals, etc.)
  • Assist with expense reporting system and ERP implementation 
  • Assist with financial audits
  • Maintain A/P and general ledger accounting procedures and assist with process improvements
  • Assist with other ad-hoc requests and duties as assigned

About You

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience preferably in biotech 
  • ERP system experience
  • Expense reporting system experience
  • Proficient Excel skills and ability to work in G-Suite
  • Organized and strong attention to detail 
  • Customer service oriented with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in an ever changing environment
  • Passion for making a difference in the world
