Vir Biotechnology is a clinical‐stage immunology company focused on combining immunologic insights with cutting‐edge technologies to treat and prevent serious infectious diseases. Vir has assembled four technology platforms that are designed to stimulate and enhance the immune system by exploiting critical observations of natural immune processes. Our current development pipeline consists of five product candidates targeting hepatitis B virus, influenza A, human immunodeficiency virus and tuberculosis.

JOB SUMMARY:

Based in San Francisco Mission Bay and reporting to the Senior Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, VIR is seeking a Senior SEC Analyst to support the SEC filings, SOX compliance and general ledger responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support SEC financial reporting process, including:
    • Preparing and publishing SEC documents such as Forms 10‐Q and 10‐K
    • Completing GAAP checklists and ensuring financial statements are presented in accordance with GAAP guidelines
    • Owning the tie‐out process for SEC documents, including delivering supporting schedules to external auditors
    • Managing iXBRL review for Forms 10‐Q and 10‐K
    • Managing internal and external review comments
    • Preparing and coordinating reporting timelines
  • Assist with certain recurring technical accounting procedures as such contract milestone updates, embedded lease analysis, impairment trigger analysis and contingent consideration valuation review
  • Assist with internal control implementation and support regular testing of controls as part of SOX 404 requirements
  • Assist with month‐end close including account reconciliations and preparation of fluctuation analyses
  • Support tax returns and tax provisions with external tax advisors
  • Ad hoc requests and projects as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related professional field
  • 4+ years of Accounting and/or SEC financial reporting experience, preferably in life science
  • Big 4 experience preferred, with focus on SEC clients
  • Exposure to a SOX environment preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Experience with NetSuite and Coupa preferred
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a fast‐paced environment
  • Detail‐oriented and able to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks & work independently
