New ABFO Member Company Open Job Posting - Corporate Controller, Bolt Biotherapeutics

The Corporate Controller is a critical and highly visible leader who will architect, build, manage, and scale the Company’s accounting organization. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting activities, including treasury, tax, and internal controls. In the first year, this will include building the Company’s financial processes, internal controls, & systems as we prepare for an IPO.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for internal and external purposes including managing accruals, adjustments, reserves, and the entire G/L close process
  • Manage technical accounting, including staying current with the latest GAAP pronouncements, writing of memos, and implementing new FASB Statements
  • Lead the company’s activities with external auditors and manage internal controls
  • Hire and develop a superior, high-performing team to meet increasing needs and requirements as the Company goes public and continues to grow
  • Create and manage the budget by working closely with executives and other key stakeholders and by providing insightful analysis and financial reporting
  • Develop and drive the adoption of common processes and systems across the company and in partnership with internal stakeholders, and continue to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of company-wide reporting
  • Act as a thought partner to the CFO, the Audit Committee, and key stakeholders, providing valuable strategic analysis and insights
  • Establish and maintain best practices for the accounting function including developing metrics to identify trends and measure performance
  • Manage the submission of income, property, franchise and other tax returns
  • Once public, the Corporate Controller will also be responsible for: o Preparing and filing all SEC reporting,
    • Preparing and filing all SEC reporting, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and Proxy Statements
    • SOX compliance and control testing


  • Relevant financial leadership experience, including the building and leading of teams
  • CPA or MBA is required
  • Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Audit experience, ideally at one of the Big Four, is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX regulations
  • Ability to solve problems proactively and independently
  • Ability to deliver strategic business insights in a dynamic environment
  • Unquestioned integrity and good judgment
