COMPANY INTRODUCTION:

Nkarta Therapeutics, Inc. is a private biotech start-up that is harnessing the power of Natural Killer cells in developing next generation cellular immunotherapies for cancer. NK cells play a key role in the body’s immune system, able to identify and kill abnormal cells by monitoring their expression of activating and inhibitory receptors and recruit the adaptive immune system.  

Nkarta will combine its NK expansion platform with further proprietary cell engineering technologies to build differentiated products designed to tackle challenging diseases with significant unmet clinical need.

We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Accountant to join our Finance team.

Summary:

The Sr. Accountant will have accountability for maintaining the daily operations of the accounting functions including general ledger responsibilities, accounts payable, payroll, expense reports, fixed assets, as well as other related activities.  The Sr. Accountant will manage various GL accounts reconciliations and the month-end close process. This individual works closely with other members of the Finance Team, operations and external auditors. This position will report to the Associate Director of Accounting.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations for both routine and complex accounting transactions and balance sheet accounts in accordance with US GAAP and company guidelinesĀ 
  • Provide records of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all disbursements and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Assist in monthly financial close process, which includes preparing prepaid amortization schedules, clinical and non-clinical accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations and flux analyses
  • Oversee fixed asset management, including asset tracking and reporting
  • Support the company’s annual audit and special projects as requested  
  • Prepare deliverables with respect to quarter and year-end financial statements and various tax filings, including but not limited to 1099, franchise tax, sales and use tax, property tax and corporate tax
  • Oversee semi-monthly payroll process

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting/Finance with 5+ years in roles of increasing responsibility
  • Biotech industry experience a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge/working experience with Netsuite or Great Plains preferred
  • A highly organized and self-directed approach to work, including the ability to handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
  • A collaborative, client-service and team-oriented style with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Audit experience with a big four accounting firm, a plus
