PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, the Senior Finance Manager will support the Dynavax planning processes including annual budget, forecast and long range strategic planning for General & Administrative (G&A) departments. This role will provide analytical and strategic support to G&A business owners and require significant interface with internal finance and accounting teams. The role will also support financial reporting system maintenance and development, roadmap execution with testing and requirement scoping as it pertains to planning and reporting.

MAJOR DUTIES OF POSITION:

  • Manage and coordinate planning exercises to meet corporate reporting schedules and goals
  • Review and analyze planning data - develop reports and presentations for management
  • Driving month and quarter end close activities
    • Prepare Budget variance analysis (BvA) reporting: explain and investigate material discrepancies to G&A cost center budget owners
    • Support accounting with monthly & quarterly accruals – ensure coding accuracy for BvA
    • Provide Management with forecast insights based on actual performance and budget owner feedback
  • Support financial system processes and development roadmap
  • Proactively identify, design, and implement enhancements to existing processes and systems
  • Ad hoc financial analyses to support strategic discussions and decisions

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have strong analytical, strategic, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience in financial systems maintenance and development required
  • Excellent attention to details while not losing sight of the big picture
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills (able to make arguments in compelling and concise manner)
  • Demonstrated success building relationships across all levels within an organization
  • Independent and proactive self starter who operates with a strong sense of ownership for projects and results, excellent business judgment
  • Must be customer centric and be able to balance the demands of a rapidly growing, complex entrepreneurial environment, while delivering results in the short term
  • Energetic, flexible team player with ability to adapt in changing environment
  • 6+ years overall experience in Finance
  • Education: BA/BS Required

Additional knowledge and skills desired, but not required:

  • Strong knowledge of and hands on experience with Adaptive Planning
  • Previous experience in biotech is a plus, but not required
  • Education:  MBA preferred
