New ABFO Open Job Posting - Senior Accountant - Eiger BioPharmaceuticals
 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support the accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience, and a solid understanding of US GAAP.  Candidates should demonstrate initiative and ability to navigate ambiguity and a willingness to grow as the company scales in revenue and size.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Support all month-end close activities in accordance with US GAAP within the required deadlines including analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing journal entries, accruals, etc.
  • Prepare and record journal entries into NetSuite for monthly general ledger close. Main areas of responsibility are fixed assets, inventory, prepaid expenses and clinical trials accrual.
  • Work with operations team to accurately record R&D/ Clinical trial expenses and accruals
  • Take full responsibility for recording and reporting inventory and cost of sales
  • Maintain control over fixed asset system by ensuring that all asset additions, disposals, and transfers are processed timely and are reconciled to the general ledger
  • Communicate regularly with business teams on updated status of fixed asset expenditures
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned (inventory, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, etc.)
  • Assist annual audit and quarterly review activities and prepare audit PBC schedules
  • Assist with monthly balance sheet and income statement flux analysis
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy, SOX compliance and GAAP
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and schedules and prepare explanations of account variances
  • Performs various daily routine responsibilities. Audit and proof of accounting reports for clerical accuracy while adhering to standard accounting principles and to the company’s procedures.
  • Identify and participate in process and system enhancements and implementation
  • Assist in special projects as needed.
  • Maintain strong records and back-up documentation
  • Other ad hoc projects as required

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and process improvement skills
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally
  • Able to work independently and self-motivate with a flexible can-do attitude
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and prioritize within a dynamic, multi-owner environment
  • High attention to detail while keeping in mind the big picture
  • Proficiency in MS Office Excel including vlookups and pivot tables
  • Prior experience in a biotech and product environment a plus

Experience/Education Required:

  • BS degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 4+ years of experience public accounting experience a plus
  • Clinical Trial Accrual experience a plus
  • Solid accounting background, with adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
