New ABFO Open Job Posting - Senior Manager - Eiger Pharmaceuticals
 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead the general accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 years of combined experience in a leadership role at a global organization and public accounting firms. The individual must be a strategic thinker and proven ability to inspire confidence among direct reports and with peers across the organization.  

Essential Duties
Responsibilities:

  • Direct a tight general ledger month-end accounting close process and related activities to ensure that all recorded transactions (including journal entries) include appropriate supporting documentation and all GL accounts are properly reconciled (and identified reconciling items are resolved in a timely basis)
  • Responsible for driving and collaborating with all teams to ensure that all accounting close deliverables are completed as scheduled per month-end accounting close calendar
  • Internal  Reporting – (a) Prepare monthly management financial packages (with analysis) and other management reports as requested (this includes understanding and clearly articulating the financial results of the company and preparing balance sheet, income statement fluctuation and cash flow analysis), (b) develop, update and provide key performance metrics to business owners and communicate recommendations on how to improve P&L results
  • External Reporting – Manage the preparation and review of the company’s unaudited and audited financial statements (including notes to financial statements); Oversee other external reporting deliverables such as statutory filings and investor reporting
  • Support commercialization of first product sales.  Manage revenue close, including preparing monthly journal entries, deferred revenue, accounts/unbilled receivables, and allowance for uncollectible reconciliations
  • Document accounting policies and procedures for all Debt related transactions and ensure debt and related derivatives are properly recorded monthly.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable Accountant (Vendor Invoices, Credit Card & Expense Reports)
    • Oversee timely input of all vendor invoices/vendor credits, credit cards and expense reports (ensuring that all transactions are approved in accordance with established approval matrix, being coded accurately and timely, and are supported by fully executed contracts/agreements)
    • Ensure that all costs incurred but not entered in the AP system are accrued in the appropriate accounting period
  • Own Equity tracking and reporting
    • Responsible for ensuring that all payroll & equity transactions (expense & payroll cash entries) are recorded in a timely manner
  • Support the Company’s efforts to comply with the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley while ensuring compliance and adherence with controls for internal policies and external regulations.
  • Ensure the integrity of the company’s accounting system, including chart of accounts set-ups, financial report development and maintenance and interfaces between systems and general ledger
  • Handle all required tax filings: federal, state and local taxes, property taxes, sales tax and other business-related returns (e.g. 1099, 1042, etc)
  • Manage audit & tax reporting and interface directly with auditors or tax service provider
  • Provide support to administration of corporate insurance policies
  • Develop processes and procedures to support sunshine act reporting.
  • Drive change and process improvements in collaboration with accounting peers and cross-functional teams

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance. CPA required, Audit experience required (Big 4 experience desired)
  • A minimum of 8+ years accounting and finance experience.
  • Recent experience as a Senior Accounting Manager or Corporate Accounting Manager of a public company is a plus.
  • Financial systems knowledge and expertise and familiarity with financial business applications. ERP Knowledge: Must have a strong understanding of ERP system. 
  • Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbally
  • Technical experience related to GAAP and reporting including SEC reporting, stock option accounting, software revenue recognition, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Experience with manufacturing company preferred
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills, high energy, initiative and creativity - with a proven ability to manage significant initiatives across organizations and across geographies, as well as develop and motivate staff
  • An orientation toward process and detail mindedness. Strong analytical and quantitative skills and superior accounting skills.
