Reporting to Assistant Controller

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven Senior Accountant. This position will play a critical role in the preparation of financial statements and reporting for a rapidly growing development stage life science company. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.

  • Responsible for most aspects of the monthly financial close process, including prepaids and
    accruals (with a focus on clinical trial expense accruals), journal entries, account
    reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Compile data for monthly and quarterly financial reporting package.
  • Preparation of monthly cost allocations critical to tracking expenses for research and
    development projects
  • Management of timesheet application used for project costing
  • Oversee fixed asset management, including asset tracking and reporting
  • Key role in supporting the company’s annual financial audit
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with US GAAP and the Company’s financial accounting policies
  • Preparation of periodic government agency schedules and forms, such as property tax returns
  • Assist with implementing process improvements towards an accelerated month-end close.


  • BS/BA degree in accounting
  • 4+ years of demonstrated progression in an accounting/finance role
  • CPA preferred
  • Biotech/Pharma experience preferred
  • Process and system orientation with an understanding of internal controls
  • Computer skills: Functional experience with an ERP; proficiency in MS Office applications
    such as; Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, a self-starter, able to take responsibility and maintain high
    quality and accuracy in reporting with specific deadlines
  • Team-oriented with outstanding integrity, accuracy and organizational skills
  • Ability to proactively identify and solve problems with strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter, independent thinker and deadline driven; able to effectively operate
    independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment is essential
  • Demonstrated high energy and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
