New ABFO Open Job Posting - Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant, Denali Therapeutics
 

The Opportunity

Denali Therapeutics is dedicated to developing breakthrough therapies for patients with neurodegenerative diseases through rigorously applying a science driven approach to translational medicine and clinical development. 

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to enhance the Company’s finance function and become a key part of the team as we grow to support the business. The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will primarily be a key contributor to both the accounting and reporting teams.  This position will also participate in a variety of other activities, including Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”), technical accounting research and documentation, quarterly reviews and annual audits.

Responsibilities

  • Key contributor to the month-end close process, with primary responsibility for clinical trials accounting and collaboration revenue
  • Work with business partners to generate and validate significant estimates in the financial statements related to R&D activities
  • Assist in the preparation of relevant SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q and other financial information forms related to the quarterly earnings releases, including supporting documentation
  • Assist with the preparation of other SEC and statutory filings (e.g., 8-K, S-3, S-8, Proxy) as well as reporting for corporate and functional leadership
  • Prepare and/or coordinate detailed work papers to support disclosures included in financial statements and SEC Filings (e.g., footnotes, MD&A, business overview updates)
  • Assist with maintaining and ensuring compliance with SOX documentation and requirements
  • Assist in interactions with third-party providers, including SOX consultants and auditors, as needed
  • Work with other members of the accounting team to research new accounting standards and technical issues; analyze their relevance for and impact to the company and document in formal memos
  • Coordination with the external auditors of quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Other tasks as assigned

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 3-7 years of professional accounting experience at a public company or public accounting firm
  • Big 4 experience strongly preferred
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance or equivalent required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP is required
  • Understanding of the COSO framework and experience with SOX 404(b)
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical / biotechnology company preferred
  • Self-starter with excellent organizations skills. Assumes personal ownership and accountability for business results and solutions
  • Plans and organizes work so that timelines are met or exceeded
