Reporting to the Controller, the Associate Director, Accounting supervise Accounts Payable and general accounting and helps design and implement our general ledger and management reporting systems (RDManage to Oracle Fusion), ensuring all transactions are processed in accordance with established policies, procedures and internal controls including GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all disbursements and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Manage the month-end and year-end general accounting close processes
  • Prepare and approve postings for specific general ledger accounts to the General Ledger
  • Reconcile and review reconciliations of specific accounts
  • Support various tax filing requirements, including tax credits sales and property taxes
  • Manage vendor tax identification records and year-end 1099 process by accounts payable personnel
  • Assist in the preparation of specific documentation for auditors
  • Implementation and maintenance of internal controls to meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
Qualifications
  • Strong process orientation, including demonstrated performance in implementing systems and leveraging best practices for process improvements
  • A highly organized and self-directed approach to work, including the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • A collaborative, client-service and team-oriented style with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Public company experience with a minimum of 5 to 8 years working in SOX controlled environment
  • 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience of Accounts Payable function
  • Strong knowledge of accounting within an ERP system
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, a CPA or CPA candidate a plus
  • Life Science company experience preferred
