Title: Vice President, Finance/Controller (Depending on Experience)
Department: Finance
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer & Chief Business Officer
Status: Exempt

Position Summary:

The VP of Finance position is responsible for the finance and accounting operations of the company, to include leadership of the in-house finance team, management of key external service-provider relationships, the production of internal and external financial reports, development of periodic budgets and forecasts, establishment of a comprehensive set of internal controls, and support business decision-making with clear and insightful analysis. Depending on experience of the candidate, the position could be designated as Corporate Controller rather than VP Finance.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and operations of the finance department, including the month- and quarter-end close processes
  • Actively participate as a leader within the company and as a member of the company’s Senior Staff
  • Manage relationships with outside service providers, including auditors, tax accountants, and commercial banks


  • Establish and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements and SEC reports
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Ensure accounting operations are conducted timely and accurately (AP, AR, GL and Payroll)
  • Ensure timely and accurate administration of stock option and RSU programs and maintain the corporate capitalization table
  • Support the analysis and execution of capital raising activities

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and periodic forecasts
  • Provide for a system of management financial reports, including actual-to-budget results, manufacturing costs, sales analyses and other key operating metrics
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations


  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings


  • Demonstrated effectiveness in leading and managing a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical accounting skills with knowledge of SEC reporting rules, regulations and accounting principles
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in working with revenue recognition issues and debt and equity transactions under GAAP
  • Experience implementing and using ERP systems
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products
  • CPA designation and Big 4 public accounting firm experience
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible accounting & finance experience, including experience with manufacturing cost accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and a positive, service-oriented attitude
