Senior Manager, Accounting


The Senior Accounting Manager reports to and works closely with the Corporate Controller and will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and external audits. This person will manage the contract manufacturing accruals, equity transactions, revenue and receivable process, monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements and SEC reporting. The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.


  • Assist with the recording and processing of general ledger transactions (i.e. purchase requisitions, bills, invoices, cash receipts, etc.).
  • Manage journal entries (i.e. preparation and approval) and reconcile assigned accounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as part of the closing process.
  • Maintain data integrity and manage operational data to ensure the accuracy and fairness of the financial data by reviewing the financial data on a regular basis.
  • Ensures that documentation is available to support the accuracy of financial reporting and to ensure that such information is in conformity with GAAP and complies with other regulatory requirements.
  • Review financial data on a quarterly basis and consult with supervisor about problems or discrepancies.
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement improvements to the systems and related processes in place to gather and post all information to the financial system.
  • Oversees, monitors and works to improve accounting procedures, internal controls and database management.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal controls and assist in the maintenance and enhancement of internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements.
  • Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting etc.).
  • Participate in preparation for the quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Stays current on changes in regulations and other industry news.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and handles special projects as requested


  • Professional Accounting Qualification, CPA and Bachelor in Accounting/Business Studies is required.
  • Prior relevant experience. “Big 4” public accounting experience and life science/pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, internal control policy and procedures and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting general ledger software (especially NetSuite) required.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
  • Public company reporting and SOX compliance experience.
  • Dynamic, innovative & problem resolution focused.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, experience in effectively communicating key data to supervisor and others within the company.
