Michael Formolo

Michael is an audit partner in his 25th year with the firm serving life sciences companies his entire career. He transferred from the firm’s New York City area practice to the Bay Area in September, 2005. Clients served have included: Cardinal Health – Pharmaceutical Technology and Services, Gilead Sciences, Intuitive Surgical, Avinger, Nektar Therapeutics, Coherus BioSciences, Corcept Therapeutics, ChemoCentryx, Ardelyx, Sutro BioPharma, Iovance Biotherapeutics, Immune Design, Allakos, XOMA, NDC, and Affymax. Michael’s collaborative approach to problem solving allows him and his clients to work through complex issues in an efficient manner. Michael has served multi-national organizations as well as emerging growth entities. Michael spent two years in the West Sub-Area Professional Practice Group providing professional guidance and advice on latest developments at the FASB and other technical accounting areas to peers and clients.

Michael is qualified in SEC reporting, and frequently assists companies with accounting issues, such as revenue recognition, business combinations, VIE considerations and taxes. Michael’s mix of industry activities including being a member of our firm’s life science executive network which allows him to keep abreast of current industry issues. He has worked closely with underwriters, legal counsel, and SEC staff accountants on numerous transactions, including initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, debt and follow-on offerings.

Michael works as a liaison with the Association of Biosciences Financial Officers (ABFO) and assists with the annual ABFO conference as well as various local educational events.

Michael was awarded a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Rider University. He is a certified public accountant in California and New Jersey. Michael is a member of the American Society of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Public Accountants. He also serves as a Trustee of the Charles Armstrong School.
