The Mission of ABFO is to:
- Provide a forum for discussions of business and
financial issues that are particularly relevant to
the bioscience industry;
- Foster a strong professional affiliation of financial
officers in bioscience for industry contacts and
professional development;
- Enhance the ability of financial officers in bioscience
to make contributions to the achievement of strategic
objectives of their respective organizations;
- Provide an industry base for responding to
regulatory and other issues that have financial implications.
The ABFO international group provides ongoing support to the regional ABFO groups
through:
- Organization of the annual ABFO National conference;
- Support of the ABFO international steering committee.;
- Distribution of information about regional ABFO activities through our website.
Involvement of non-members industry experts in ABFO activities
ABFO activities are designed to be open to just members of ABFO. This design creates
an optimal environment for discussions of business and financial issues and for development
of strong professional affiliations between financial officers in bioscience. At
the national conference or at regional events, non-member industry experts may be
invited to participate in activities such as panel discussions. However, participation
by non-members is limited to specific sessions. This constraint is designed to enhance
as opposed to limit the environment for interactions between ABFO members.
ABFO Membership:
ABFO membership is available through the nearest ABFO regional chapter. These chapters
function independently, but contribute each year in the planning and execution
of the ABFO Annual Conference. Regional chapters are organized in the centers of
highest bioscience industrial concentration across the nation. Their common mission
is to facilitate local networking by fostering face-to-face contacts at meetings
designed to address issues of interest to bioscience financial officers. This networking
becomes national in scope at the Annual Conference.
